We all have gone above and beyond for those clients that we just adore for one reason or the other. I am certain you too have stories of things you have done that you most likely thought you would not do under normal circumstances.
Early this morning I received a phone call from a Marine that purchased a home from me not too long ago.
I wasn't expecting the phone call, but was happy to hear from him nonetheless.
In his horse, drill instructor voice, he asked me if there was any chance I could meet the Lowes carpet installer at his home.
He had asked off only to have Lowes reschedule at the last minute and today was impossible for him.
Of course, after all this gentleman has already sent me several referrals.
I figured it was the least I could do.
So, I arrive at his home just in time to open the door for the carpet installers who spoke VERY limited English. To my surprise, they spoke Russian. OK. I can do this.
Now as I unlock the door, I am greeted enthusiastically by a German Shepard.
So enthusiastically that he knocks me over into the freshly laid mulch. Ok. I can do this.
After tracking down the enthusiastic German Shepard and persuading him back to his fenced in yard, I went inside to let the Russian installers know I would be back to lock up.
I think they understood me. I think.
After a few hours I returned.
The German Shepard had somehow managed to make his way into the home where the Russian installers were working.
They were not Ok with this.
They were in a back bedroom with the door closed waiting for me to return.
So..I again persuaded the enthusiastic, and slightly intimidating creature back into the yard.
Long, comical story short....Finally the Russians finished the carpet, the German stayed put, and the Dominican is extremely pleased with his updated home.
Seeing his reaction after a long day of "Making Marines" made the entire international experience worth it. I was happy to be able to help him.
We don't just sell homes. It is so so much more. Today, I love the oddity of my job. It fits me just fine.
